Event narrative
The Cottonwood Fire and Middle Ridge Fire were started by lightning near the Utah state line. The fires destroyed two cabins and a trailer home and damaged a cemetery. Beaver Dam State Park was also closed for a time due to the fires.
Wider weather episode
Three wildfires broke out in southern Nevada, destroying several structures and vehicles before being contained.
