Thunderstorms rolled across southeast Minnesota during the afternoon of August 4th. A lightning strike from one of these storms hit a transformer in La Crescent (Houston County). The damage from the strike was enough to make a nearby substation unrepairable causing around 3,400 customers to be without power until the following day.
