WeatherFlow site on Alligator River Bridge reported a 39 knot marine thunderstorm wind gust.

Wider weather episode

Numerous showers and a few thunderstorms moved across eastern North Carolina during the morning and afternoon of July 10th as an upper level disturbance approached from the west. One storm became severe producing strong marine winds across the Albemarle Sound and Alligator River.
