Wider weather episode

Based on radar reports, a Special Marine Warning was issued for PZZ376 effective at the above times for a line of thunderstorms active in this zone. After the warning was issued, a report from the Coast Guard relayed by WFO EKA indicated that a vessel was in distress in the area. The next day, the Coast Guard at North Bend was contacted directly. They indicated that several boats were in distress near that time due to a sudden rise in winds and seas (3-4 feet building to 8-10 feet). These events occurred near the coast in the Brookings area. This was at least 20 miles away from the thunderstorms, but it appears that a wind shift boundary did move through the entire coastal waters and the thunderstorms offshore were associated with this boundary. Ultimately, no deaths or injuries occurred, but there were serious problems associated with the event.
