Cape Hatteras ASOS at Billy Mitchell Field reported a 36 knot marine thunderstorm wind gust.
Wider weather episode
A stalled frontal boundary over Eastern North Carolina combined with an approaching mid level disturbance to produce strong thunderstorms across the coastal waters. A few storms became severe with strong marine wind gust.
