Event narrative
One tree, possibly a yellow pine, twisted off 20 to 30 feet above the ground. A 2nd yellow pine smashed into a vacant trailer house while a 3rd yellow pine was uprooted from the high winds. The severe winds combined with large hail also peppered the sides of a few farming structures.
Wider weather episode
A supercell thunderstorm developed across the Camas Prairie and peaked in intensity over western Clearwater County between Greer and Weippe. The storm unleashed severe winds and half-dollar hail causing close to a million dollars in property and crop damage. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) designated Clearwater County as a primary natural disaster area due to this wind and hail event on Sep. 3.
