A powerful spring storm brought heavy wet snow to many higher elevations areas of southern Colorado. Generous amounts of 10 to 20 inches were common in the highest elevations. Some of the higher snow amounts in populated areas were: 6 inches at Rye in Pueblo county...7 inches and more at Leadville in Lake county...12 inches at Walsenburg in Huerfano county and Westcliffe in Custer county...14 inches at Cuchara in Huerfano county and Rosita in Custer county...15 inches 10 miles northwest of Salida in Chaffee county...18 inches 8 miles west of Westcliffe...and 19 inches in La Veta in Huerfano county.
