Wider weather episode
A brush fire that began Aug. 22nd continued to smolder and occasionally reignite in small areas in west Oahu near Makakilo. Most of the fire was inaccessible at higher elevations; and firefighters, in the end, had to tackle the blaze on foot using hand tools and water from backpacks. The fire burned more than 1000 acres, and was caused by 7-year-old twin brothers playing with a lighter. No serious injuries were reported. The cost of any damages was not available.
