Event narrative

A weak MCS moved off the Deep South Texas coastline during the morning hours and collapsed south of Buoy 42020, sending an outflow boundary north into the Marine Zone 270 waters. In addition, a wake low formed behind the MCS. For a period of several hours sustained winds over the offshore waters of Marine Zone 270 repsonded to both the outflow boundary and wake low. Winds were estimated near 34 kts (based on data from nearby Buoy 42020). Wind gusts between 45 and 55 kts were also estimated for several hours. A peak wind gust of 59 kts was recorded at Buoy 42020 at 0750 CST, with gusts of 55 kts at 0850 and 0950 CST.
