Severe thunderstorms brought damaging winds and large hail to parts of western and north central Massachusetts. Penny sized hail was reported in Greenfield, where thunderstorm winds also downed trees and large limbs. A woman was killed when the car she was driving was struck by a falling tree limb. Trees and large branches were also reported down in Northampton, Westfield, Athol, and Phillipston.
