Event narrative
A lightning-initiated wildfire burned 10,000 acres mostly in an area between the Homestead Extension of the Florida Turnpike and Krome Avenue. Smoke from the fire closed down portions of both roads for hours at a time and one person was killed in a vehicle crash likely caused by the restricted visibility. A local health alert was issued for persons mainly in the Doral area.
