Event narrative

The media reported via Facebook that a car was washed off the road near Rock Hound State Park which included a water rescue. No injuries were associated with the flood.

A very moist atmosphere was in place with dew points into the 60s across all of southern New Mexico. A weak upper trough was approaching from the southwest which provided the lift for thunderstorm development with very heavy rain and slow storm motion.
