National Ocean Service tide gauge in Duck reported a 40 knot marine thunderstorm wind gust.

A strong cold front moved through the Eastern North Carolina coastal waters during the evening and overnight hours of November 6th, 2014. Numerous strong marine wind gusts were observed across the Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds and along the Outer Banks.
