A 55 mph wind gust was recorded at the Michigan City marine station.

Strong winds of 45 to 60 knots in the 900 to 850 mb layer were mixed to the surface courtesy of a intense mesoscale wave. Steep lapse rates exceeding 9.5 c.km aided in the transport of the winds to the surface. Wind gusts in excess of 50 mph were recorded at several marine sites.
