Event narrative

Minor tidal overflow resulted in flooding along the Pacific Coast Highway at Anderson in Sunset Beach. The curb lane on the beach side was under a few inches of water.

Wider weather episode

A 5 to 6-foot south-southeast swell generated by former Hurricane Simon brought high surf and strong rip and longshore currents on the 6th and 7th to Orange County beaches. On the 9th, the astronomical tides rose to near 7 feet, resulting in minor coastal overflow flooding in Orange County.
