Event narrative

Thunderstorms brought an area of heavy rainfall from Hotchkiss to areas north of Cedaredge. Flash flooding impacted portions of Hotchkiss and closed a portion of Highway 65 north of Cedaredge which deposited a large amount of debris onto the road.

Wider weather episode

A very active monsoon thunderstorm outbreak caused several flash floods and debris flows across western Colorado where there were numerous reports of rainfall rates in excess of one inch per hour.
