A strong thunderstorm produced a wind gust of 42 knots (48 mph) in West Atlantic City.

An approaching cold front helped trigger a narrow line of showers and widely scattered thunderstorms that passed through the area waters during the mid afternoon on the 17th. This line produced strong wind gusts on the area waters from Ocean County south through Cape May County with most peak wind gusts around 43 knots (50 mph).
