Event narrative

A five to seven foot storm surge caused major coastal flooding. The surge damaged several homes, businesses and boats. Up to a half foot of water inundated the tiny fishing village of Spring Warrior and damaged several trailers. The Hickory Mound Impoundment, a portion of the Big Bend Wildlife Management Area, sustained major damage from Dennis' tidal surge. The surge overwhelmed the sewer system at Keaton Beach.
