Thunderstorms developed in unstable air near a cold front that passed through northern Wisconsin. The storms produced large hail and downed numerous trees and power lines in the central and northeast parts of the state. They also produced torrential rain in central Wisconsin that caused street flooding in Stevens Point (Portage co.). A cooperative observer for the National Weather Service in Plover (Portage co.) reported 0.51 inch of rain in just 15 minutes, along with a wind gust to 56 mph.
