Hurricane Wilma moved through inland portions of South Florida on the morning of October 24th, 2005. Maximum sustained winds ranged from 89 mph over extreme western Broward County to 77 mph over western Miami-Dade County. Peak gusts were as high as 113 mph over western sections of both Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Damage was extensive over inland areas, mainly in the form of fallen trees and power lines. Some power poles were toppled over western Miami-Dade County along Tamiami Trail between Krome Avenue and the Miccosukee Indian Reservation.
