Widespread low-land flooding occurred across Sonoma County with mainstem river gages along the Russian River remaining above flood stage for several days. Devastating flooding occurred near the Russian River in Healdsburg as well as Guerneville. The Petaluma River overflowed its banks as well, as did the Sonoma Creek. Approximately 66 structures were tagged by county officials as significantly damaged in the wake of the flooding. An average of 4 to 6 inches of rain fell over a 24 hour period, 2 days after 1 to 3 inches drenched the same area. The flood continued to affect the area into early January.
