Snow began in the Santa Catalina Mountains on New Year's Eve and became heavy. By the time snow ended early on January 1st, 2015, just over a foot of snow accumulated on Mt. Lemmon above 8000 feet.
Wider weather episode
A winter storm moved through the desert southwest that spanned from New Year's Eve into New Year's Day 2015. This storm resulted in briefly unusually low snow levels down to about 2000 to 2500 feet with significant snow above 3000 feet.
