A downburst during a severe thunderstorm produced a 120 MPH wind gust over the Raintree Lake section of Lee's Summit. One hundred homes were damaged and 13 destroyed resulting in 10 million dollars worth of damage. Nine injuries were reported but none were serious. Winds on top of Lee's Summit hospital were clocked at 79 MPH during the storm.
