Wider weather episode

Heavy rain from late morning to early afternoon caused flash flooding across most of Ste. Genevieve County. Several county roads, some with low water crossings, became impassable. Two people, a 78 year old man and a 66 year old woman, lost their lives when they tried to drive a van across a flooded low water crossing on the Lawrenceton cut-off, a road off Route Y. The road had been flooded by a swollen Fourche De Clos Creek. A Highway Department sign at the crossing warned of the road being impassable during high water. Another adult suffered a broke leg while a 12 year old boy escaped with cuts and bruises.
