Severe flash flooding redeveloped due to rainfall of generally between 2 and 6 inches in the eastern part of the county. The heaviest rain fell in the eastern half of the county. Both the area just west of Barksdale and the area around Rocksprings reported 11 inches of rain from the evening of the 27th through the morning of th 28th. A 57-year old man drowned near Barksdale where the Nueces River crosses Highway 55 near the Edwards/Real County line. He had driven across earlier to visit friends. Witnesses indicated that he drove around a barrier near 0630CST in an attempt to cross the river on his return trip and his truck was swept away into the flooded waters. Four other people were rescued by helicopters as their vehicles were swept away in flooded draws.
