Event narrative

A 44 year old male drowned in the Pe'n Brusi Beach in Camuy as he was pulled out to sea by rip currents. A 25 year old male was also rescued by the local emergency managers rescue team with minor injuries.

Wider weather episode

Northerly swells reached the local Atlantic waters resulting in large breaking waves and dangerous rip currents. A high surf advisory was in effect for the north facing coasts of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
