Hurricane force winds developed on a very localized scale as a strong mountain wave developed ahead of an approaching storm system. A peak wind gust to 125 mph (109 kts) was recorded 1 mile east of Buckhorn Mountain with a gust to 75 mph (65 kts) at Golden Gate Canyon. Strong winds developed in portions of the Northeast Plains later in the evening as Padroni recorded a peak wind gusts to 67 mph (58 kts).
