A deep, slow-moving low pressure system drew abundant moisture into air just cold enough to support snow. A heavy wet snow fell across the mountains of South Carolina, most of it in the morning and at elevations above 2500 feet. Accumulations ranged between 4 and 8 inches, closing several roads into North Carolina.
