The third coastal storm in less than 3 weeks struck mainly coastal areas from Onslow to Hyde County. Up to 5 inches of rain fell along the coast . Belhaven had almost three feet of water standing in low-lying streets and City Hall was flooded. A marina in Swan Quarter was flooded. Large areas of flooding occurred in the Southwest and Bear Creek areas of Onslow County leading to cancellation of school in the county. A 68-foot fishing vessel sank off Cape Lookout with the loss of 4 crewmen.
