Event narrative

Excessive rain caused numerous flooding throughout the city. U.S. highway 82 at Arkansas 2378 was washed out. A private dam broke which led to the closure of County Road 290. Numerous homes were flooded. The County Judge declared a local disaster and the Red Cross set up emergency shelters. A total of 10.48 inches of rain fell from the storm which was a record for the date. Records began in 1930.
