The two tornadoes were preceded by large hail that shattered numerous windows in the Lockhart area and also destroyed corn crops in and around Lockhart. The first tornado developed about 5 miles south of Lockhart. It wasmall and very short-lived tornado was spotted by an off-duty police officer. It touched down in open country with no damage indicated. The second small tornado was spotted along SH86, around 9 miles southeast of Lockhart, as it moved briefly northeastward. This tornado, slightly stronger and longer-lived than the previous, uprooted numerous trees and snapped others at their bases.
