Two large fires and several small fires were touched off by lightning during the last week in July on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation in southwestern Wasco and northwestern Jefferson Counties. The largest fire burned nearly 1,000 acres. A 4-H camp near Peter's Place was placed on evacuation standby for six hours but was not threatened by the fire.
