Event narrative

A lightning caused wild fire burned more than 18,500 acres of grassland and forest in Klickitat County. At least 17 outbuildings, including five homes, were destroyed. The entire town of Cleveland was evacuated. In all over 900 people helped fight the fire with no injuries reported. However, nearly 150 head of cattle died as a result of the fire. Heavy rain helped bring the fire under control.
