Some patchy dense fog caused several chain reaction accidents around the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and Maryland State Route 404. Six accidents that involved eighteen vehicles occurred within a 200 yard area and caused eight injuries and five hospitalizations. The worst accident involved a tractor trailer and five cars.
