A down-burst wind stuck Manteo airport, near the Dare County Border at 14:13 EST. The wind gust was measured by the AWOS at 59 knots. This destroyed four private planes and damaged a hangar. The straight line winds also produced damage in Wanchese at 14:20 EST. A circus tent was blown over injuring eight circus workers. The same radar signature then moved over Oregon Inlet at 14:22 EST where 104 mph winds were recorded.
