Event narrative
A 36-year old Muldrow man was killed by lightning while fishing in a tournament on the Arkansas River near Lock and Dam 14. A 24-year old companion was also struck by lightning, suffering severe burns on his right arm, shoulder and foot.

Summary of events for April 24 1999:Thunderstorms formed on the morning of April 24 along a stationary front running east-west across southeast Oklahoma. Some of these storms became severe during the day, producing marginally severe hail and wind. However, most of these thunderstorms moved eastward along a similar path running across Pittsburg, Latimer, and northern Pushmataha Counties. This led to saturated grounds and flash flooding.
