A strong low pressure system moved over the Rocky Mountains onto the Central Plains. The associated cold front brought 6 to12 inches of snow to portions of the Black Hills as well as areas in northwestern South Dakota. Some people near Sturgis were without power for three hours after power lines snapped from the the ice and gusty winds.
