A low pressure system developed over Utah during the afternoon of April 9 and moved into Wyoming that evening. This system crossed Wyoming overnight then moved into South Dakota. The storm produced between 18 and 36 inches of new snow in the Burgess Junction area. The heavy snow combined with northerly winds between 25 and 50 mph to produce blizzard conditions in the northeast Big Horn Mountains. This system also produced northwest winds sustained at 40 mph twice during the morning of April 10 at the Sheridan airport.
