Excessive heat affected portions of western north Texas from August 10th through August 12th. Two persons died from the excessive heat. A 55-year old man died in his Wichita Falls home on the 10th, and an 80-year old woman died in the hospital in Vernon in Wilbarger County on the 12th. The average high temperature for the 3 days at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, which is in Wichita County, was 108, while the average low temperature was 80.
