A strong dry cold front producing winds of 30 to 40 mph caused an extensive area of blowing dust as these winds blew across a large area of land that had been burned due to wildfires. The blowing dust reduced visibility to near zero at times along Interstate 80 between Battle Mountain and Carlin. Large areas had visibility reduced to below 3 miles in blowing dust.
