Event narrative
A flash flood watch was issued for streams on the Cook Inlet side of the Kenai Peninsula late Sunday based on reports of locally heavy rainfall reports (around 1 inch/6 hours). Kenai recorded nearly 1 1/2 inches of rain in less than 12 hours...with nearly equal amounts recorded at the Swanson River site.The flash flood watch was cancelled at 10:30 am Monday. Stream levels were reported locally high, but crested below flood stage. No flash flooding was actually reported.
