Event narrative

The Hot Springs County Emergency Manager reported nickel sized hail along State Highway 431 just east of State Highway 120 toward Gooseberry Creek.

Wider weather episode

A frontal boundary draped over the area was the focus for the development of thunderstorms on the afternoon of Thursday, June 4. One storm became quite strong over Hot Springs County where nickel sized hail was reported. Convection redeveloped late in the evening over central Fremont County. Thunderstorms quickly erupted west of Riverton and dropped ping pong ball sized hail near Midvale.
