Strong high pressure was stationary over eastern Canada while a low pressure center at mid-levels of the atmosphere moved north-northeast over the western Alaska Range, the western Tanana Valley, and to Fort Yukon in the Upper Yukon Valley before dissipating. This created strong east winds at Delta Junction, where the highest winds reported by the ASOS were 39 mph sustained and gust to 58 mph.
