Strong westerly winds, on the back side of a weakening low near Middleton Island, were reported through the Barren Islands (northeast of Kodiak Island) and in the lower part of Cook Inlet. Gusts reached close to 60 mph at the Augustine Island site in lower Cook Inlet. Westerly winds of 65 mph were reported by the M/V "Sealand Tacoma", east southeast of the Barren Islands, late Monday.
