Event narrative

A fast moving Pacific storm system caused periods of heavy snow over parts of Lake, Chaffee, and Huerfano counties. In Lake county 3 inches of snow was noted at Leadville while 6 inches fell at Climax. In excess of 8 inches fell in the high country of western Lake and western Chaffee counties. In Huerfano county 4 to 6 inches of snow fell in a 4 hour period just northeast of La Veta, while 8 inches of snow occurred in slightly over 2 hours at Cuchara.
