Event narrative
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office reported quarter sized hail covering roads in Afton. A trained spotter also reported one inch diameter hail just to the northwest of town.
Wider weather episode
Severe thunderstorms developed across eastern Idaho and swept east across Lincoln County. The first storm had visible signs of rotation and eventually dropped golf ball sized hail in Star Valley Ranch. A second storm developed later in the evening and impacted the south end of Star Valley around Afton. There were multiple reports of large hail.
