High Surf — Manu'a, American Samoa

2015-06-18 to 2015-06-19 · Manu'a, American Samoa

Event narrative

Combined long-period swells and trade-wind generated seas and swells have triggered the Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS) buoy to detach from its moore. A storm low near New Zealand was responsible for these hazardous south swells of 12 to 15 feet...along with strong gusty winds that have impacted the dislocation of the wave buoy. A high surf warning and small craft advisory were issued when this event occurred.
