Refugio County Sheriff's Office reported a funnel cloud northwest of Refugio.

The deep upper low remained over the Four Corners region on April 17th while another strong jet streak in the subtropical jet stream across northern Mexico moved into South Texas. The air mass became strongly unstable by the afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms occurred from late afternoon through the evening hours. Several thunderstorms became supercells and produced damaging winds and large hail. Several funnel clouds were reported, but no tornadoes were confirmed.
