A series of moderate short waves swept across Georgia in the persistent northwesterly upper-level flow interacting with a stationary front across Central Georgia. Moderate instability and steep mid-level lapse rates resulted in numerous reports of large hail and damaging thunderstorm winds during the afternoon and evening.
