Event narrative

An APRS station in Port Salerno measured a 34-knot wind gust as thunderstorms pushed off the Treasure Coast.

Wider weather episode

A moist and unstable air mass produced early afternoon thunderstorms that resulted in strong wind gusts along the Space and Treasure Coasts. A paddleboarder offshore South Hutchinson Island in St. Lucie County was impacted by winds and likely drowned. Nearby, in Martin County, two paddleboarders were pushed seaward by the strong winds, but returned to shore with assistance and were not injured.
